Big Green Weekend

The Big Green Weekend 2009, organised by British Recycled Products, was bigger and better than ever.  Events opened with a bang with fantastic street theatre, the Hebden Bridge Junior band and a speach by Christine McCafferty, our local MP at the Green market.

The market did roaring trade, with stalls selling a massive range of interesting eco friendly products from solar heating to organic pickles.  British Recycled Products had a stall at the market too, and we enjoyed showing the local community what we are all about!

Amongst the activities there was facepainting, music, film, debate, and art.  There was a drum circle, a circus skills workshop, an ethical fashion show and a club night at the Trades Club.  Local businesses joined in, offering talks, great deals and workshops.  The Alternative Technology Centre in Hebden Bridge had an amazing line-up throughout the weekend, and The Hole in T'Walls organic beer festival and BBQ went down a storm

Transition Town Hebden Bridge organised a secret garden party, taking over the abandoned fire station yard and turning it into an amazing garden, for use by the community long after the event was over

Overall, the event was a great success, and we look forward to next years event being even better!
